BEAUTIFUL PEOPLE: A Documentary Series with Max and Ellen Schupbach

In each episode of this series, Max and Ellen guide a client through resolving a specific problem, conflict, or personal challenge. They demonstrate how to "unfold" the process to discover insights and reveal the true beauty of human nature.

These episodes don’t offer ready-made answers —they show the process of exploration, where each step emerges from a person’s unique experience in a unique context. Perhaps something will resonate with you, or your process may be completely different.

Max and Ellen Schupbach are the founders of the Deep Democracy Institute International (DDI). In their work, they use the process-oriented approach in psychology developed by Arnold Mindell and his colleagues.

We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to our partners, Atelier Gardens, for providing the beautiful and historic filming studio TON 3, for our shoot.

P.S. After the filming, Max, Ellen, and Xenia (founder of Mamaki Film) met in Amsterdam — in a funky little studio — to talk about the experience, the work, and the episodes. They explored key Process Work ideas and principles and shared how theory becomes something you can feel, sense, and live.

We barely edited the recording, letting the conversation unfold naturally, just as it happened. And that’s exactly what turned it into a podcast.

P.P.S. You'll find the interview right after Episode #24.

"BEAUTIFUL PEOPLE" SONG Instead of a trailer, we created a song – a soundtrack that captures the essence of our project. Listen and feel the heart of the story!

Episode #1 Theoretical introduction and a session with Ruth. In this episode, Max and Ellen delve into Ruth's question: "How can I find the right balance between hard work and rest?"
Episode #2 A discussion on the marginalization of women’s health and practical work with Jannicke, who seeks a deeper understanding of her illness.
Episode #3 Sue is working through the challenge of managing her emotional reactions to cruel, racist statements. She says, "I can be angry, but I don’t want to be — it hurts me."
Episode #4 Tanja notices changes in her body but doesn’t immediately realize they reflect more than just weight gain—they mark a profound inner transformation. This story goes beyond appearance, exploring movement, self-acceptance, and the freedom to fully own one’s presence.

Shooting location:
Atelier Gardens Berlin, studio-TON 3

Thank you for these deeply insightful, light-filled, and loving videos. In German, we say ‘ausdem Leben gegriffen ‘they feel as though they arise directly from life itself. The approach and topics are truly inspiring. My gratitude to everyone who made this possible!
